His first job as a teenager was sweeping the floors at Dempster Machine shop where his father was the shop foreman. Following in his father’s footsteps he became a machinist and was eventually able to open his own machine shop. Orvid served his country during the Korean War and upon discharge married Marie Crass on December 31, 1955.
He had many interests, including golf and skeet shooting, but his passion was bass fishing. Orvid was a long time member of Immanuel Baptist Church and currently a member of Meridian Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Marie Crass Roberts. Survived by cousin, Barbara Brock and many dear friends.
A visitation for Orvid will be held Sunday, June 11, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920, followed by a Funeral Service at 3:00 PM. Reverend Dana Fachman will be officiating. Family and friends will proceed in procession to Mt. Olive Cemetery for an interment service.
