Nolan J. Swafford, age 92, of South Knoxville, went to be with the Lord Friday, August 24, 2018. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Knoxville. Nolan graduated from Tennessee School for the Deaf in 1947. At TSD, he was the school's first All-American football player. He also excelled in basketball and track. He lettered in all three. His hobbies included fishing and boating. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Ethel Swafford, his brother Samuel Swafford, and his son-in-law, Johhny Fuller. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Louise Swafford; son, Barry and wife Michel Swafford; daughter Jayne Fuller; son, Sandy and wife Cynthia Swafford; grandchildren: Jesse Fuller, Jelica Duggan, and Ethan Swafford; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Elmore. Per Nolan's wishes, there will be no services.
