Montie Smith Downs

Montie Smith Downs, age 72 of Knoxville, TN, passed away October 26, 2023, surrounded by her children. She truly was a beautiful soul who will be deeply missed by all. Her warmth and smile would light up a room from the moment she walked in. Anyone that knew her, would often say, “Montie is so sweet, kind and loving towards others!” She was a Godly servant, who spent most of her free time helping others and volunteering, especially with “Hands and Feet.” She also coined the phrase, “The goal is a soul!” Before retiring, she was the proud owner/operator of Master Clean Inc. as well as owned many other businesses. Her main loves in life were God, family, and people but she also enjoyed mowing, cooking, and being near the water. Her light and love made this world a better place by encouraging and giving hope to those around her. She will live on forever in our hearts. She is preceded in death by her parents H.E. and Peggy Smith and spouse John Downs. She is survived by her three children: ‘Rob’ Garrison, Monieka Nixon(David), Damaris Retterer (Scott), two grandchildren: Addyson Morgan and Tate Morgan. A celebration of life will be held November 19th, 2023 on the lake from 3:00-5:00 PM at 1827 Hopewell Rd, Knoxville, TN 37920. Finger foods and beverages will occupy this reminiscing time.
