Michiko Kanzaki Sharp, age 92, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 21, 2022. She was born in Okayama, Japan on June 9, 1930. On March 17, 1954, she married Johnnie Sharp, a Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army and eventually moved to the U.S. with her husband and became a naturalized U.S. Citizen. After her husband retired from his military career, the couple settled down in Knoxville with their three children. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at Third Creek Baptist Church and was a long-time member of Moreland Heights Baptist Church, witnessing through her faith. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family, animals, and Japanese Enka music. Michiko was preceded in death by her husband. Those who are left to celebrate her life are daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Jim Cornelius (Orlando, FL); daughter and son-in-law, Ruthann and J.E. Henry (Knoxville); son and daughter-in-law Johnnie Jr. and Wendy Sharp (Birmingham, AL); grandson Jackson Sharp, a freshman at Birmingham-Southern College; and stepson and wife Greg and Vickie Sharp (Sharps Chapel, TN). Family and friends will gather at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery Rotunda located at 5901 Lyons View Pike on Wednesday, December 28 at 1pm for a celebration of life service officiated by family friend Pastor Stephen Misenheimer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Young-Williams Animal Center, www.young-williams.org. Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway is serving the family. The family would like to thank the staff of the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center for their loving and compassionate care of Michiko during her hospitalization
