On September 18, 2021, Michael E. “Poppa” Hill of Knoxville, TN, 59, known for taking brief naps while driving, finally took the long nap to meet Jesus, leaving behind his headstrong wife of 24 years, Debra Hill; his ten children: Jami Ashe and wife, Desiree; Erin Ashe; Elijah Hill; Mark Ethan Hill and wife, Vanessa, Isaac Hill, Brijah Hill, Allie Hill, Michael Hill, Makiah Hill and Makady Hill; his nine grandchildren: Madeline Ashe, Jamakas McClellan, Matthew Ashe, Keaton Ashe, Bella Ashe, Noah Grace Ashe, Lauren Ashe, Landon Hill and Izayah Hill; and two great grandchildren: Amia Cox and Emilia McCorkle. He is survived by his mother Gayle McCullough and husband, Jim; his two sisters, Shelley and Kori; his father Norris Hill and wife, Diana; his two brothers, Casey and Brandon; and his nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Dorothy Hoos; his aunt Judy Rhondas; and also several old vans and rusty work trucks. Mike worked for more than 15 years for Fred Harvey, plumbing and wiring houses, squirming through crawlspaces and generally having a good time. He enjoyed drawing, reading science fiction and fantasy, and even published his own fantasy novel, Lord Emberstone's Quest. We will miss his persistence and strength which carried and protected his family and his loud snores which kept him and the rest of us awake all night. Sleep well, Poppa! Family will receive friends on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Berry Highland South, from 5pm-7pm.
