Mary Hutton Allen, age 92, of South Knoxville, passed away at her home, surrounded by her family on May 6, 2022. Born and raised in Knoxville, Mary was a Central High School Bobcat and was part of the graduating class of 1947. She married Robert Allen in 1950 on her 21st birthday. Mary then graduated from the University of Tennessee where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Mary was employed by Teledyne Brown Engineering and the Knoxville Board of Education. She was also a volunteer at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center for almost 25 years. Mary was a member of First Presbyterian Church during her early years and then Lake Forest Presbyterian Church for 60 plus years where she served as both a Deacon and an Elder.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Robert Allen; twin sons, John and James Allen; parents, Annie and C.A. Hutton; sister, Carolyn Keith and her family, sister, Virginia McConnell and brother, Paul M. Hutton.
Survivors include sons, Bill (Teresa) of Bethlehem, Georgia, Tom (Lisa) of Knoxville; daughter, Lee Elizabeth "Edie" McCracken (Rob) of Buderim, Australia; 8 grandchildren: Sam, Joe and Dan Allen, Bethlehem, GA.; Emily and Nick Allen, Knoxville, TN, and Annie, Lachlan and Sandon McCracken of Buderim, Australia; 3 great grandchildren, Evie, Abby, and Elliot of Buderim, Australia.

The family will receive friends Sunday, June 5, 2022 from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM with a memorial service to follow at 2:30 PM. Rev. Wyn Bryant will be officiating. The service will be live streamed on the Berry Funeral Home Facebook page. Following the memorial service, the family will proceed to Woodlawn Cemetery for a private family inurnment service.
