Linda Everett Young, age 78, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. Linda was a 1964 graduate of South High School. Linda's lifelong passion was working with children and babies. Her first job was working as a school crossing guard for the Knoxville Police Department. She worked for many years at the University of Tennessee Child Development Center, Promises Daycare, Sequoyah Hills Nursery and volunteered in the NICU nursery at University of Tennessee Hospital and mother's day out program at Meridian Baptist Church.
Linda was a member of Hillcrest Community Church,where she was active in the nursery; and a former member at Colonial Heights United Methodist Church. She was a proud band mom at South-Young High School.
Preceded in death by her parents, James Robert Everett and Ida Mable Jones Everett; sisters, Connie Ruth Stanton and Deborah Diane Ingle; great-grandchild, Avery Leigh Noble.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Boyce Andrew "Andy" Young; sons, Mark A. Young and Todd Young and wife Nicole; grandchildren, Courtney Jaeger Young and Joshua Noble, Kayla and David Cruze and Casey Young; 8 great grandchildren; brother, James Everett, Jr. and wife Mary; sister, Angie Large and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
The family will receive friends 5-7 pm, Friday, April 11, 2025 in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, TN with a Celebration of Life Service at 7 pm. Dr. Pat Polis officiating. Family and friends will meet 10 am Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Woodlawn Cemetery for graveside services.
