I'm the youngest sister. Linda was babysitting us one summer when I was about 5 years old.  Linda was blowing bubble gum bubbles, and she blew the biggest one we had ever seen-it covered her face completely. When if finally popped-it went all over her face, in her hair, up her nose, etc.

We kids, my sister Scarlet and me, thought that was the funniest thing we'd ever seen in our lives. Probably was so far. Linda laughed so hard, she cried tears of joy as we teased her.

We had lots of fun visiting her. We will miss her.

Knowing Linda for many years, I was proud to call her my cousin.  She, of course, was Jim's wife.  Jim is a first cousin to my husband, Gordon.  Yes, Jim's wonderful dad, Howard, and Gordon's precious mom, Wilma, were brother and sister.  The first time I met Linda at a family get together, we immediately became friends as well as family.   She had a knack for knowing and connecting with people.  She enjoyed talking to people and getting to know people.  Linda was a beautiful bright light to those around her.  To know Linda was to love her.  She was kind, loving, brave, giving, peaceful, strong and good hearted.  Linda's family and friends were blessed and better people for having known her.  She truly was an angel among us.  Gordon and I will always cherish our times together during the Christmas season as well as a rather recent memorable trip to Dollywood.  Linda and Jim enjoy and appreciate Bluegrass music .  Gordon and I share that passion and have a special memory of a Rocky Top Bluegrass Festival.  Linda was proficient and talented with crafts and a master at knitting.  Get her started on a project and it was amazing to see a finished product...always beautiful and perfect for the lucky recipient!  She made a lovely cross stitch picture for my granddaughter that we will always cherish.  Linda and I had a special bond since we were both fighting cancer.  In the past several months we talked often about this world not being our home.  We found comfort in knowing and believing that we were just passing through this earthly life and hopefully would leave this world a better place.  Linda has gone to be with our Heavenly Father...her real home.  We know we will all meet again some day.  What a reunion!  Hey Gal!  I Love You!

Linda and I have the same birthday date not year just March 19 - which I thought was awesome!  She was always so energetic  and loved to cook (really good !!). She could make a house sparkle , she loved a clean house. She loved sitting with older people and helping them out with they day and no doubt smiling , helping them to smile too! She will be missed greatly but she’s smiling in heaven now! 
         

Linda was nearly 14 yrs older than me. Our younger sister Tracey and I were visiting her one summer, before she met and married Jim. I was maybe 12 or 13.
The three of us decided to sunbathe, using the tried & true tanning method of the day, "baby oil and iodine".
We greased ourselves up, played badminton and drank sweet tea all day long....it wasn't until shower time, did we realize we had in put too much iodine, and we looked like burnt orange peels. The Orange stayed on...we laughed at each other, as only sisters can. With Love.

Linda was a very special person to me. Even tho we did not get really close till my 1st husband died, Jerry Tomberlin. We were family for 45 years but living in NC it was hard to see each other. After he died and his sister, we got really close. Her and Jim was always there for me. I know  God got a special person in heaven. She was always so sweet and listen to me cry it out. She was so brave during her sickness. Strong to the end and loved the Lord. Miss her every day. Want to pick up phone and call. Jim I was so proud to be  Tomberlin for along time. Love you and always praying for you.




Linda and I were married almost 42 years. Some may say we had a simple life but there was love in our house from day one until the last. We raised our kids to behave and respect others and to believe in God with all your heart. Our loss is heavens gain and we all be together some day.  I look forward to it. I know she would want us to go on with our lives but it will not be easy.

Hard to say what I feel. She was so special to me. I wish we had been close all the years I lived in NC.   Jerry always said we would visit when we came in but never seemed to be enough time. I loved her so much and so proud to have the last 5 years or so that we were close. You are so special to us. You can give my boys the Tomberlin back ground that they want and need to know.  We are here if you ever need us. God took a special person home so she would have no more pain. Just imagine the wonderful place she is in now.  Love to all. God is good
