Lewis H. Thomas, age 80, of South Knoxville, passed away peacefully at his home on, October 18, 2021. He was an honest, hardworking Christian man and he was a member of South Knoxville Church of God for 40 years. He retired from Knox County Schools Maintenance Department, and also managed Rock City Ballpark. Lewis enjoyed many hobbies including spelunking, metal detecting, fishing, and vintage VW's. He is preceded in death by his son, Tommy Joe Thomas. Lewis is survived by his loyal and faithful wife of 58 years, Joe Ann Thomas; daughter-in-law, Teresa Thomas; grandchildren, Brad, Miranda and Sara; step-grandchildren, Dale, Josh and Megan; brother, Albert (Marilyn) Thomas; sister, Betty Hicks; brother-in-law, Vernon (Pam) Witt; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the nursing staff of Knoxville Covenant Hospice; Rocky, Cindi, and Ruby. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 5pm-7pm, at South Knoxville Church of God, with a funeral service to follow. Friends and family will meet at Woodlawn Cemetery on Friday at 12:45pm for a 1pm interment services.
