Len Miszkiel, age 74 of Knoxville, passed away unexpectedly at home on August 20, 2023.Len was born on September 1, 1948, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Len grew up in Scranton and graduated from Penn State, obtaining a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering. This subsequently launched a long career in Construction Management. Len retired from Johnson & Galyon Construction after 33 years of dedicated service. During his career Len worked on numerous projects throughout the country, with the later part of his career centered at UT Medical Center. Following retirement Len became passionately involved volunteering at UT Medical Center where he made many friends who valued his contributions and ever present smile. Len enjoyed repairing and remodeling anything around the house. Helping family, friends, and neighbors brought him joy. Throughout his life Len enjoyed golf, bicycling, hiking, snow skiing, photography, watching sports, and scuba diving, where he developed an art for underwater photography. Len and Susan spent numerous vacations exploring dive sites around the world. Len is survived by his loving and attentive wife of 23 years, Susan; son, Chris (Kim) Miszkiel; daughter, Nicole Miszkiel; grandchildren; brothers Joe Miszkiel and Rick Miszkiel; brother-in-law, Kent (Maggie) Swaggerty; sister-in-law, Sharon Swaggerty; nieces; and a host of extended family and close friends.
