Ford, Lee Delano, age 78, of Knoxville, passed away peacefully Saturday night, February 25, 2012 at UT Medical Center after complications associated with congestive heart failure. Lee was born September 15, 1933 in Greenville County, SC. and graduated Paris High School and was a 1955 graduate of Wofford College. Lee served as an officer in the United States Army and retired from Texaco, Inc. after 35 years of operations management. He was a long time member of Church Street United Methodist Church in Knoxville, TN. and was a member of Taylor Lodge #345 F&AM. He was preceded in death by parents, Lee Doffers Ford and Estelle Holloway Ford; sister, Jeanette Ford Swafford of Greenville, SC. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Steven G. and Sandra Maxwell Ford, Michael J. and Silvia Calonje Ford; step grandchildren, Joshua Hurst, Jacob Hurst and Joseph Hurst; grandchildren, Cecilia Maria Ford and Dominic Andrew Ford and the children’s grandmother, Jo Anne Smith Ford.
The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Tuesday in the Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 7:00 PM., Rev Cabel Trent and Rev. Darryll Rasnake officiating. Honorary pallbearers at the Celebration of Life service in Knoxville will be the Pathfinders Sunday School Class. Family will receive friends Wednesday, starting at 11:30 AM, in the Remembrance Mausoleum Chapel at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1 Pine Knoll Drive Greenville, SC 29609 (Tel. 864-244-4622) and will proceed to the graveside for a 1 PM interment service.
