Stinnett, Larry Gordon, age 66, died Tuesday, November 20th, one day after his birthday. Larry will be remembered as a devoted husband and a loving dad and granddad. He met Ginny Lawhorn when he was only 15, and married his high school sweetheart after graduating from Young High School in 1965. Larry and Ginny enjoyed 47 years of faithful marriage. Not only was Larry a wonderful family man, but he also had a number of professional accomplishments. He retired from the Knoxville Utilities Board after 28 years of faithful service. He also founded and operated Backflow Specialty Company since 1995. Larry was a member and Past President of the American Backflow Prevention Association and the Tennessee Backflow Prevention Association, which he was instrumental in creating. Because of his extensive work in the cross-connection industry, Larry had friends from coast to coast. Most importantly, Larry surrendered his life to Jesus Christ when he was 19 years old. Consequently, he was a long-time member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church in Knoxville. There he served as a Deacon and taught Sunday School for more than 30 years. He was also a member of The Gideons International, serving the Northwest Knox Camp. Larry was preceded in death by his precious mother, Virgie, and his dad and brother, James R Stinnett Sr. and Jr. He is survived by his wife, Ginny; sons and daughters-in-law, Brad and Anne Stinnett, Rev. Todd and Charisma Stinnett; grandchildren, Tanner, Nicholas, Madison, Sophie, Shelby, Kate, Benjamin, Elijah, and Michael; brothers, George and Ronnie Stinnett; sister, Barbara Campbell; and many other family, friends and precious others. In lieu of flowers, contributions appreciated, to Wallace Memorial Baptist Church or The Gideons International. Family will receive friends at Wallace Memorial Baptist Church, Saturday, November 24th, 11 am until the 2 pm Funeral Service, officiated by Rev. Todd Stinnett and Dr. Mike Boyd. Following the service, family and friends will go in procession to Lynnhurst Cemetery for interment services.
