Mike was born October 30, 1954 in Knoxville where he attended West Hills Elementary, Northwest Jr. High, and West High School graduating in 1972. After high school he earned a degree in Criminal Justice from Walters State Community College.
Before Mike was disabled by a lifelong illness, he served as a police officer at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and a Security Officer at Oak Ridge National Labs.
Mike was preceded in death by his beloved father WWII hero Master Sergeant Roderick (Roddie) Edmonds, Righteous Among the Nations; and his loving mother Mary Ann (Watson) Edmonds.
Throughout his disability, his loving father and mother were his care givers. He loved them very much and was especially grateful to his mother for her steadfast care for more than 30 years.
Mike is lovingly remembered and missed by his brother Chris Edmonds (Regina), sister Priscilla Davenport (Paul), nieces Alicia McGinnis (Steve), Kristen Wilson (Jed), Lauren Mathews (Ray), and great nephews and nieces Austin, Haylee, Lilly, Hagen, Maylee, Holden, Mollee, Ruthie, Roderick, and Remy.
The family is especially grateful to Dr. Chastian, Cindy, and Jerri at Helen Ross McNabb Maryville for their many years of loving care for Mike. And the family is grateful to the staff at Fairpark Health and Rehabilitation, Maryville for Mike’s personal care the last several months.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday December 1, 2023 at 3PM at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Edmonds and Rev. Gary Smith officiating.
