Kenneth Trotter Denton, age 91, passed away January 20, 2016 at Ben Atchley State Veterans Home in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was a beloved father and grandfather, member of Valley Grove Baptist Church, on Ball Camp Pike. He was a retired Senior Master Sergeant with 26 years of military service in the Army/ Air Force, veteran of WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War. He retired from Y-12, Oak Ridge. Kenneth loved farming, even as a young boy alongside his father growing up in Sevier Co. His passion was taking care of his Charolais cattle. His family moved to Knox Co. in 1942, where he met the love of his life, Hattie Smith Denton. Together, they had three children, to whom he devoted his whole life. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Hattie Denton; parents, Othie and Grace Denton; a wonderful step-mother, Nannie Denton; infant brother; two infant sisters; his sister and brother-in-law, Louise and JD Yarnell; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Edna and Porter Taylor, and Rachel and Martin Harvey. He is survived by his children, Deborah (John) Pace, Bill (Sherrie) Denton, and Jama (Mike) Chandler; grandchildren, Ashley (Josh) Hatcher, Katie (Dustin) Tilley, Lindsey (Jeremy) Walker, Casey (Tony) Stephens, Will Denton, Jessica (Heath) Cheverton, and Kellie Chandler; great-grandchildren, Greyson, Johnson, Micah, Benton, Anna Kate, Kadence, Aryah, Alex, Kaylei, Rylyn, Jaiden, and Easton; sister, Lorene (JC) Cupp; and several nieces and nephews. There are no words to express our sincere gratitude to all the staff at Ben Atchley Veterans Home. The excellent care and daily expressions of love were phenomenal. Ben Atchley was home to Daddy for five years. The staff were not only caregivers but became family to his family. A special thanks to “Andy” and “Uncle Joe.” The family will receive friends on Monday, January 25, 2016 from 5:00-7:00pm at Berry Highland West (9913 Sherrill Blvd.) will a funeral service to follow at 7:00pm. There will be a graveside service at 12:00pm on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Berry Highland West Cemetery. The pallbearers are Tony Stephens, Jeremy Walker, Will Denton, Justin Davis, Dustin Tilley, Josh Hatcher, and Heath Cheverton.
