Karen Kay Hickman

Hickman, Karen Fortner, age 54 of South Knoxville went to be with her Lord and her husband of 27 years, Todd, on Tuesday, November 4, 2014. Karen was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and the Dental Hygiene School at East Tennessee State University. Karen was a picture of strength and grace, even under the most difficult of circumstances. She was very dependable and loyal and protective of her family. One could always depend on Karen to know the answer or know where any missing item could be found. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Karen was preceded in death by her husband Todd Hickman and parents Ralph and Hazel Fortner. Karen is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Chloe Elyse and Chase Parrott; daughter, Emma Claire Hickman and her boyfriend Sawyer Campbell; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and David Tipton; nephews, Taylor, Spenser and Hunter Tipton; mother and father-in-law, Wayne and Dot Hickman; brother-in-law, Ron Hickman and nieces, Kelsea and Blair Hickman. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 pm Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
