Julian Morton Campbell, age 63, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, after a prolonged illness. A talented homebuilder by trade, Morton had special affection for the mountains of Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina. He loved to camp, sometimes with friends, but also alone with his beloved canine companion of 19 years, Petey. Whether he was at Lake Burton or Elkmont or at his little lakefront cabin, Morton was always happiest outdoors. Morton battled addiction throughout his life but joyously engaged in active recovery at the time of his passing.
Morton was preceded in death by his mother Julie Anne Morton and his brother Carl Eugene (“Chubby”) Campbell, Jr. He is survived by his father, Carl Eugene Campbell, Sr.; sisters Muffet Campbell Arroll (Richard) and Julieanne Campbell Foy (Michael); nieces and nephews Andy Pope, Macy Pope Starkes (Luke), Carl Campbell III, Julian Campbell, Slayton Campbell, and Gavron Campbell. He also leaves behind his former wife, Margaret (Meg) Myers, who remained his treasured friend until his very last breath.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable donations be made to Friends of the Smokies or the charity of your choice. Graveside services will be private.
