John Bruce

Johnny N. Bruce Sr., 85, of Knoxville passed away Saturday February 25, 2017. Born in Stinking Creek, Tennessee to Leonard and Theresa Bruce which preceded John. John was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He was an Air Force veteran and graduated from U.T. with honors. John retired from T.V.A as a C.P.A. He was a loving husband of 65 years, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. John loved hunting, golfing and gardening. He was preceded by 5 sisters and 3 brothers; Survived by wife, Katheryn (Wilhite) Bruce; children, Debra (Skip) Cecil, John Jr (Karen) Bruce, Lenny (Kathy) Bruce, and Heather (John) Hughes; grandchildren, Simon, Noah and Wilson Cecil, Jessica (Michael) Jubin, Steven (Sarah) Brooks; great-grandchildren, Ella Katheryn and Hailey Elizabeth Brooks; sisters, Bertha Vazanna and Joanna Zobel; many nephews and nieces. A special thanks to the Skilled Nursing Unit 3rd floor at Asbury Place. The family will receive friends Friday, March 3, 2017 from 5:00pm until7pm at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway. Family and friends will meet Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Trentville Cemetery for a 11am graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mt.
