Huffaker, Joel Andrew, Jr., age 86, of Knoxville, went to be with his heavenly Father on May 1, 2012. He was preceded in death by parents, Joel Sr. and Margaret Huffaker, 4 brothers, and granddaughter, Lauren McNeil. Joel was the Marketing Manager for South Central Bell and a TSSAA Official and Supervisor. He also worked for Powell Telephone Company and Knox Recreation where he managed the Inskip Rec Center. He was a member of the Knoxville Football Officials Hall of Fame, Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame, and TSSAA Hall of Fame. He served as Deacon and Bible Study leader at First Baptist Church of Fountain City and was a 32nd Degree Mason.
Survived by wife of 65 years, Lorine Johnston Huffaker; daughters, Diana Hall (Keith), Debbie Turner (Steve), Donna Copeland (Ralph), DeLisa Seals (Mark) and son, Daniel Joel Huffaker. He was granddaddy to Jason McNeil, Casey Fitzpatrick, Russ, Chad, and Jacob Turner, April Upton, Adam and Luke Tripp, Courtney and Joel Huffaker, 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank Continuum Courtyard Assisted Living and Tennova Residential Hospice facilities for their loving care. Serving as pallbearers are Jason McNeil, Chad Turner, Jake Turner, Adam Tripp, Luke Tripp, and Phil Hatcher. The family will receive friends at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel on Thursday, May 3, from 5 – 8 p.m. The Celebration of Life service will be Friday, May 4, at 11:30 a.m. with the graveside to follow at Highland Memorial with Pastor Donald Wadley and Coach Bob Black officiating.
