Joan Ann Aiken was born in Sherborn, Massachusetts in 1932. She graduated from high school in Sherborn, and went on to earn her Master's degree in nursing with high honors for her efforts. Joan worked for many years as a psychiatric nurse in the Knoxville area, working at Lakeshore and Ridgeview. She was a member of Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church and found great joy in listening to gospel music, particularly the Gaithers and Jimmy Swaggart. Joan and her beloved husband Al enjoyed travelling together, especially to Hilton Head, which was their favorite place to go. She also enjoyed spending time with her beautiful and loving cat, Grayce.
Joan is preceded in death by her husband, Alexander "Al" Aiken and her sister, Jackie Yeatts. She is survived by her daughters; Joann (Steve) Doty, Sheila (David) Tanner, and Susan (John) Lee, her brother, Ron Veno, her grandchildren; Marcia (John) Collier, Steve (Carol) Doty, Chris Doty, Paul (Trish) McGee, John Ryan Lee, Max (Kyli) Lee, Toni (Kevin) Grissom, and Wendi (Josh) Winkler, great-grandchildren; Olivia, Katie, Lauryn, Carolyne, Kathryn, Emma, and Alex, and great-great grandson Carter.
A visitation for Joan will be held Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Berry Highland West, 9913 Sherrill Blvd, Knoxville, TN 37932, followed by a Celebration of Life at 5:00 PM.
