Jay Clifford Terry, age 80, passed on to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, after a short illness. He was living at Ben Atchley Veteran’s hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee. Born March 31, 1935 in Knoxville, Tennessee to Jesse Clifford Terry and Shirley M. Rambo Terry. He grew up enjoying the outdoors, hiking, hunting and fishing. He was an active Boy Scout making the Order of the arrow and Eagle rank. The family attended Magnolia Methodist Church where he volunteered his time and support as a youth. He studied classical piano and performed recitals. Mechanically minded and in support of his love of automobiles, he built and rebuilt engines, doing a bit of drag racing with his cronies. Loving music, he built stereo systems from scratch. He attended East Knoxville High School and the University of Tennessee, then volunteered for the draft and served in the Army as a Military Policeman in Fort Gordon, GA. When he returned, he attended East Tennessee State University where he met the mother of his children, Iris Rose Hill Terry. As a business owner, he sold and installed sound systems for institutions such as the University of Tennessee. He is survived by his son Marc C. Terry and wife Michelle, daughter Cindy Terry Adams and husband Robert, sister Betty Terry Rule and husband Tim Pratt, grandchildren Grady Adams, Zachary Adams and wife Jory, Robert Adams and wife Lindsey, Richard Adams and wife Holly and Cameron Terry and Caitlin Luna; great grandchildren Marliegh, Camryn, Ethan and Greyson. The Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 4:00 PM in the Parlor of Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home with Pastor Max Reddick, officiating.
