Jay Andrew Campbell

CAMPBELL, JAY “JAYBIRD” age 87 of Knoxville, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born April 27, 1923 in Union Co., TN. He was of the Baptist Faith and served in the U.S. Navy. Jay was a Car Dealer in the Knoxville area for over 60 years. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and 50 year member of Beaver Ridge Lodge 366 and also a member of Kerbella Temple. Preceded in death by parents, Ott and Annie Daniels Campbell; brothers, Carl, Adrian and Homer Campbell and Major Daniels; sister, Yvonne Key. Survived by wife of 64 ½ years, Mildred; daughter, Linda; grandsons and wives, Jay and Jennifer Smelser and Anthony and Brittney Smelser and family; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Friday at Weaver Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 am Saturday at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for an 11 am graveside service.
