Early on Saturday, October 7th, 2023 Jamie Allen Lee passed from his earthly home to his heavenly home, as his mother sang “He’s Still Working on Me.” A very clear memory the family has of Jamie is when he sang that song for a school competition. In Philippians 1:6, the Bible says, “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” That work has been completed, and Jamie is now rejoicing in the presence of Jesus.
Jamie was welcomed to his new home by his Papaw (John Whitaker), Mamaw (Shirley Whitaker), Granddad (Vernon Lee), Uncle Jeff (Jeff Lee) and cousin (Jeremy DeHart.) He is survived by his son, Garrett Lee and biological daughter, Katelynn Mayo; parents, Roger and Shelly Lee; sister, Angela Walden (Andy); brother, Johnathan Lee (Jamie); nieces and nephews: Victoria and Emma Lanning, Jack, Lucas and Meloney Lee; and two grandchildren, Bella and Paisley Mayo.
At the age of 8, Jamie accepted Christ as his Savior which is why his family has the blessed hope of seeing him again. His favorite songs from childhood included “There’s Something About that Name” and “Amazing Grace” both of which his mother sang to him often. Jamie had a spirit of positivity that brightened everyone’s day all of his life. He made it his mission to make people smile which is why he worked in the restaurant industry for so many years. Jamie loved his family and loved being a dad. He enjoyed sports, especially basketball and football.
Family and friends will honor the life of Jamie Lee with receiving of friends at Temple Baptist Church in Fountain City, 2100 Woodrow Dr., Knoxville, TN 37918 on Tuesday, October 10th from 5-7pm with funeral service following at 7pm with Charles Lawson and Barry McDonald officiating.
