With sadness and love, the family of James Ralph “Jimmy” Lynch announces his passing on December 30, 2022. James was born on September 9, 1950 in Knoxville, Tennessee. James was a simple man that enjoyed the simple things in life. Throughout his life, James enjoyed his job with the City of Knoxville Horticulture Department, wrestling, puzzle books and his treasured Ford Mustang. James started with the City of Knoxville on May 20, 1971 and retired after 45 years of service on October 1, 2016. September 1, 2016 was declared “James Lynch Day” by then Mayor Madeline Rogero.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Lynch and Opal Minton; and brother, William (Bill) Minton. He leaves to cherish his many memories, his sister, Gena and brother-in-law John Graves; brother, Bradly and sister-in-law Melissa Minton; niece, Amanda and her husband, Austin Childress and nephews, Nicholas and Joshua Minton.
A graveside service will be held on January 14, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery, Rev Tim Dennis officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be sent to the East Tennessee Kidney Foundation in honor of James Lynch.
