Jim also, known as “Big Boy” Gallant in Woodstock, Alabama where he grew up. He is formerly from Fredonia, NY. Jim served in the US Army in the Korean War where he made the Rank of Sgt. He returned from Korea and followed his occupation as a Waterproofer for 53 Years. He met Dorothy Rose Flaherty in Utica NY, and they were married on June 29th, 1957. He is preceded in death his by Father Roscoe, Mother Willi Mary, two sisters, and two brothers. Also, his wife Dorothy of 42 years, and an infant son Joseph.
He is survived by daughter Sandy Lopez (Tom) Santa Clarita, CA., son Shawn Gallant (Valarie) Rockford, TN., daughter Jennifer Gallant Waligora (James) Union Grove, WI., son Jeff Gallant, 11 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 18 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was proud to be a Veteran and serve his country. He continued that Veteran spirit through the VFW where he was a Post Commander, County Commander and District Commander. He was a member of the American Legion and always went to a Veterans Day Ceremony.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that you donate to your local HONOR GUARD, that way you help them serve those that served our country.
