James E. Cox (Jim), age 83, of Knoxville, passed away November 28, 2020. Jim was a Christian and a longtime member of Beaver Ridge United Methodist Church and also a longtime Karns resident. He was a brick mason most of his life and retired from Oak Ridge Y-12 plant in 1997. Jim loved going to his building and working on things there and in Springtime he always had a big garden. He especially loved tomatoes and raised lots of them to give to friends and family. Jim was a kind, loving person who enjoyed being around the family, friends, church, and church family. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, William L. and Nova Ogle Cox; brothers, Kenneth, Ray, and Bill; sisters, Cleda, Evelyn, Ruby, Edith, Nell, and Faye. Jim is survived by his loving wife, BJ Cox; special "grandson" Dillon Lloyd; special brother-in-law, Roy Edwards (Judy), Goodwin Amburn, and sister-in-law, Imogene Cox; sons, Tim Cox {Sammie) and Jeff Cox (Lin). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Beaver Ridge United Methodist Church at 7753 Oak Ridge Hwy. Knoxville, TN. 37931. Family and friends will meet at Lynch Bethel Cemetery at 2:00 on June 20, 2021 for a graveside service with the Rev. Larry Dial and Rev. David Stooksbury officiating.
