Imogene Marie Tarwater

Imogene “Jean” Marie Tarwater, 96, of Knoxville, TN passed away on April 10, 2025. She was a member of Union Valley Baptist Church of Seymour, TN. Jean enjoyed the mountains, especially scenic drives to Cades Cove. Along with her love for the mountains she enjoyed all types of music, and who could forget her famous chocolate chip cookies.

She was preceded in passing by her parents, James and Nellie Irwin; brothers, James Irwin Jr., Kenneth Irwin; infant son, David Tarwater.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Robert Tarwater; daughters, Paula Fowler, Tammy Baker; brother, Jack Irwin; sisters, Peggy Melton, Judy Gibson; grandchildren, Heather Fowler, Gary Fowler II, David Perkins, Michael Trowbridge, and Chelsea DeBord; great-grandchildren, Austin, Samantha and Lucas Butterworth, Zaxton and Everleigh Trowbridge, Cameron DeBord.

Family and friends will gather to honor the life and legacy of Jean at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920, on Monday, April 14, 2025, with a visitation from 1:00PM to 2:00PM and a funeral service to follow at 2:00PM. Family and friends will go in procession to Boyd’s Creek Cemetery in Sevierville, TN, for the committal service.
