Hammock, Hester Davis, of Knoxville, born July 22, 1922, passed away June 26, 2012. Hester grew up in the Asbury community and was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church for many years. She graduated from Central High School and first worked in Oak Ridge during World War II. Later she worked for Aetna Life and Casualty and for the University of Tennessee in Residence Halls. For 15 years, Hester was an active member of Lake Forest Presbyterian Church. She loved being involved in her church, spending time with her family, and going out to eat with her friends and brother, Jack. She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Hammock; parents, Otey & Forchen Davis; sisters and brothers-in-law: Catherine & Rev. Glenn Patterson, and Edith & Mitch Spitzer. Hester is survived by daughters: Sharon Birdwell and husband Ben and Cathy Collins and husband Rick; grandchildren: Dr. Chris Birdwell and wife Julie; Amy Birdwell Lyttle and husband Mark; Wes, Ryan and Evan Collins; great-grandchildren: Audrey & Alex Birdwell, Zachary & Eli Lyttle; brother, Jack Davis and wife Billie; sister-in-law, Connie Hammock; several nieces & nephews. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Kathy Marlow and Marilyn and Joe Hutchinson. Family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon in the Gallery of Lake Forest Presbyterian Church with the funeral service to follow in the Sanctuary, Rev.
