Jinks, Herman W. “Bill”, age 81, of Seymour, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, August 17, 2012. Herman retired from Oak Ridge with 37 years of service. He was a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church where he served as an ordained deacon and took great pride in teaching a men’s Sunday School class. He loved the Lord and shared it with so many people. Herman was in the last graduating class of Stair Tech High School. He was honored to serve as the class President. He was a Golden Gloves Boxing Champion and one of five members of a local diving team. Herman was a dedicated member of Kerbela Temple. He had been a Mason for 49 years. During that time he attained his 33rd degree. He was a member of the Scottish Rite and Oriental Blue Lodge. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of Shriner’s Burn Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Jinks, Sr.; mother Alpha E. Jinks; daughter, Margaret Maribeth Jinks; granddaughter, Kristen N. Pickens; brothers, James T. Jinks and Robert Jinks, Jr., sisters, Anna Ruth Sizemore and Patsy Blalock. Herman is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Helen Lee Jinks; daughters: Kimberly D. Shaffer, and Missy Hembree and husband, Brian; grandchildren: Amber, Amie, and Will Shaffer; great-grandchildren: Austin and Bubby Pickens; brothers: Richard Jinks, Gordon Jinks and wife Sue; sister Janice Winder and husband, Jerry; and many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends on Monday, August 20th from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home with a Masonic Service at 8:00 PM followed by the funeral service, Rev. W.A. Galyon officiating. Family and friends will meet at Woodlawn Cemetery on Tuesday, August 21st at 1:00 PM for interment services. Full military honors will be presented by Volunteer State Honor Guard. The service will conclude with a dove release. Family and friends are invited to Providence Baptist Church on Highway 411 in Seymour immediately following the interment for a time of fellowship.
