Harvey Tisdale Kemp, age 86, of Knoxville, passed away on Friday, July 24th, 2015. Harvey was a Baptist Minister in Inwood, West Virginia, attended E. Avenue House of Prayer in Knoxville, and was a teacher with the Job Corp. in Harper’s Ferry, West Virginia and New York State, where he later retired. Mr. Kemp ministered in an orphanage in the Holy Land to 40 boys for three years. Harvey spent 8 years traveling across the country which he immensely enjoyed. He liked woodworking, reading, singing and playing the piano, and loved technology. He is preceded in death by his first wife Thelma Kemp and his parents. He is survived by wife Vera Cook Kemp, children Charlie Kemp and wife Cindy of Knoxville, Maryland, Becky Richardson of Kearneysville, West Virginia, Steven Kemp and wife Edy of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Brenda Sherwood and husband Matt of Front Royal, Virginia, step-children Jane Frame and husband Coy of Mascot, Tennessee and Jackie Rutherford of Strawberry Plains, Tennessee, 15 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and sister Gracie Freedman and husband Ray of New York State and numerous extended family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date for Mr. Kemp.
