Harry Mabry, Sr, aged 78, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family & friends on February 26th after a short illness. Harry spent most of his life in Knoxville before ultimately retiring to Flemingsburg, KY. While in Knoxville, he spent many years as a school bus contractor for Knox County Schools. He was also heavily involved in youth sports when his children were young, eventually coaching most of them throughout their childhood and teenage years. Harry also loved to tinker with cars and especially loved converting school buses into RVs. Never one to sit still, he also enjoyed working around the house. Recently, he even started an addition on his house that he sadly won't be able to finish. Harry was very generous and kind and will be missed by many.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Brooks & Marion Mabry, sisters Laura Shields & Margaret LaConca and his first wife and mother of his children, Faye Mabry. He is survived by his wife Ellie, children Michelle (Raja) Jubran, Robin (Jason) Ratliff, Lori (Mike) Bridges, Beth Mabry and Harry Mabry, Jr., 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews; sisters Rachel Mabry Bell and Helen Mabry.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 3rd from 2:00-4:00 pm at Berry Highland South Funeral Home, 9010 E Simpson Rd, Knoxville, TN 37920. The Funeral Service will immediately follow, with Tom Redmond officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice in Harry's memory.
