

Nelson, Grover, E. “Doc”, age 69 of Knoxville passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday November 3 2012. Doc was a member of Stoney Point Baptist Church and a crane operator for P.S.C Metal, Incorporated in Knoxville for 22 years. He was preceded in death by; parents Ben and Virgie Nelson, foster parents Bruce and Paralee Petty, infant son Keith Nelson, sister Rosie Moore, brother George (Bo) Nelson, brother-in-law Harold (Sheep) Standifer, niece Jodi Nelson, and nephew Ricky Nelson. He is survived by; wife Doris (Hickman) Nelson, son Jason Nelson, stepson Lonnie Reed, Stepdaughters; Denise Massengill, Teresa Biggs, and Michelle Pierce, grandson Austin, 8 stepchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, sister Jean Standifer, brothers; Hubert and wife Anne Nelson of Kentucky, Kenny and Darlene Nelson of Morristown, W.B. and Carolyn Petty of Knoxville, step mother-in-law Hazel Hickman, foster sisters Marsha Gilbert and Jane Fong, several nieces, nephews, cousins and lots of special friends and loved ones. The family will receive friends on Tuesday November 6th from 6-8 p.m. at McCarty-Evergreen Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. with Rev. Bruce Spangler, Rev Matt Cannon, and Rev. Wesley Pursiful officiating. Family and friends will meet at Pleasant Hill Cemetery on Wednesday at 11:45 a.m. for the interment service at 12:00 p.m. Pall bearers will be: Billy, Jason, Kenny, Zach, Gary and Franklin.
