Groat Morris “Mark” Callaway III, age 17 of Knoxville, TN, passed away on December 9, 2021, at the University Of Tennessee Medical Center. Mark was a remarkable young man who left those around him feeling loved, cared for, and valued. He was quick to give a bear hug or lend a helping hand. Always the inquisitive young man, he excelled at welding, gaming, and outdoor activities. He was an active member of Grace Baptist Church and participated in the media team and student ministry. A strong believer in Christ, he demonstrated a servant’s heart and showed compassion to all who crossed his path. Mark is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Groat Morris Callaway Sr. and James Turner. He is survived by his parents, Groat Morris and Alicia Callaway; sister, Lauren Callaway; grandparents, Barbara and Jim Stevens, Ruth and Ben Garrett; aunts and uncles, LoAnn (Bill) Price, Tamara Stevens, Mary (Mitch) Webster, Jason (April) Turner; cousins, Kaitlin (Matthew) King, Bruin Webster , Hayden and Sutton Turner. Special friends, David and Lisa Bost, Steve Boruff, Connie Dagley, and a host of friends and extraordinary teacher, Zeb Proctor; honorary pallbearers, Bryan Thomas and the members of his Grace Student Ministries small group, and gaming friends, Jesse Alred, Davy Morans, Zayne Grear, and Jonathan King Family will receive friends Tuesday, December 14, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Grace Baptist Church Worship Center (7171 Oak Ridge Highway) with service to follow at 8:00 pm. Officiating, Rev. Bryan Thomas, and Rev. Bobby Lewis. Family and friends will meet Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Brimer Cemetery (3611 Copper Ridge Rd.) at 10:45 am for an 11:00 am interment.
