Snyder, Gerald Allyn “Jerry”– age 73 of Knoxville went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 9, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by parents Kenneth Harold and Flora Helen Snyder and grandson Brett Allyn Zarecor. Jerry will be remembered by friends and family as a kind and gentle man who loved spending time with his family and playing golf with his friends. Jerry was selected to the West High School’s Top 50 players in 50 years for his excellence in football. He was employed at the Y-12 Nuclear Plant of Oak Ridge where he retired after 25 years of service. He was a member of Marble City Baptist Church and also attended Marietta Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He is survived by loving wife, Carolyn Cruze Snyder; daughter, Diane Zarecor (Robert), of Plant City, FL; son, Bryan (Melissa) Snyder of Knoxville, TN; son, Mark (Angela) Snyder of Lenoir City, TN; grandchildren, Wade & Ashley Zarecor, Joanna, Leah, Matt, and Katie Snyder; great grandchildren; Paige and Zachary Zarecor, Plant City, FL; brother, Kenneth Harold Snyder Jr. “Mickey” (Lana Sue) of Knoxville, TN; brother-in-laws: Wayne (Diana) & Jerry Cruze of Knoxville; aunts: Mary Ruth Clabough, June Huskey, Virginia Turpin and Marjorie Justice; uncle, William Snyder (Grace) and many special nieces, nephews, and cousins. Officiating the service will be Rev. Randall Mayfield. The family will receive friends Monday, January 12, 2015 from 6-8pm in the Chapel of Berry Highland West Funeral Home, with a funeral service to follow at 8pm. Family and Friends will meet at 10:45 Tuesday in the Marietta Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery for a 11am interment service.
