George Albert Massey, age 76, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness on Sunday, January 2, 2022. He proudly served our country in the United States Army. He enjoyed classic country music, classic cars and watching westerns. He will be remembered for his quick wit, funny jokes and sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Jennie Massey; sister, Ollie Majors and brother, Fred "Jim" Massey.
George is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Penny; sons, Tim (Teresa) Massey, Jerry (Lindsey) Massey, Terry Massey; grandchildren, Ashley and Christopher; several nieces; nephews; special nephews, Bill Taylor and Guy Ravo; several brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law and special little buddy, "Toby".
The family will receive friends Friday, January 7, 2022 between the hours of 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Hwy, with a service to follow. Family and friends will meet at Berry Funeral Home, Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at 9:00 am to go in procession to East TN State Veterans Cemetery, John Sevier Hwy, for a 10:00 am Committal Service with full military honors provided by East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard.
