Fred William McNeil - age 85 of Knoxville, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. He was a beloved son, husband, father and grandfather who was preceded in death by his parents, Robert William (Buck) and Faye McNeil. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Brenda Joyce Marshall McNeil; children, Robert William McNeil II and wife Robin, Martin Anthony McNeil and wife Andrea, Christopher Ryan McNeil and wife Jia-Li; grandchildren, Robert William McNeil III, Nicholas Calvin McNeil, Tyler Marshall McNeil, Caleb Alexander McNeil, Jessica Lauren McNeil, Ada Rae McNeil and Ryan Shire McNeil; brother, Mike McNeil and wife Sheila McNeil, sister, Nancy Pavlis and husband Billy Pavlis; several nieces and nephews. He graduated from Fulton High School and the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration while also achieving certification as a Certified Public Accountant. He chose to enter the pioneering field of Data Processing and inspired all of his children to enter the field of Information Technology. His interests included Bible study, music, astronomy, and Volunteer football. By far, the most important focus of his life was his family.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Friday, February 2, with the funeral to follow in the Berry Lynnhurst Chapel with Pastor Seth Hammond of Christ Covenant Church officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1pm Saturday, February 3, at Lynnhurst Cemetery for the interment. Pallbearers are Robert McNeil II, Martin McNeil, Christopher McNeil, Robert McNeil III, Nicholas McNeil and Caleb McNeil.
