Floyd P. “Frosty” Johnson Sr., age 86, of Knoxville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 19, 2018. He was saved and became a Christian at the age of nine and was a member of New Hopewell Baptist Church. He was a 1950 graduate of Young High School. In 1952 he became a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church serving in many capacities there until his death. He was a sergeant in the US Army serving in Korea. Mr. Johnson worked for South Central Bell and retired after 40 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lindsay and Lena Johnson; siblings, Jo Cannon, Dorothy Rose, Juanita Pollard, Lindsay Johnson Jr., Linda Cordell, and Donald Johnson. Mr. Johnson is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Bonnie J. Johnson; son, Floyd Jr. “Frosty” and wife, Sandy; daughter, Gail Hawkins and husband, Darris Sr.; grandchildren, Sherry Dennis and husband, Michael, Christy Johnson and husband, Daniel, April Linkous and husband, Lee, Darris Hawkins Jr and wife, Jackie; great-grandchildren, Hayden Johnson, Brooklyn Prichard, JP, and Isaiah Linkous, Jayden and Lilli Dennis; brother, Terry Johnson; sister, Brenda Johnson; special sister-in-law, Doris; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Monday, April 23, 2018 at Valley Grove Baptist Church, 9000 Sevierville Pike, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 7:00pm, Pastor Keith Vaughan officiating. Family and friends will meet Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 12:45 pm for a 1:00 pm graveside service at Valley Grove Cemetery.
