Flora Elizabeth Anderson Millsaps, born November 10, 1920 in Vonore, Tennessee, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ early New Year’s Day morning, 2021, quietly and peacefully in her home. At that time she was joyfully reunited with loved ones who went before her to include: her parents, Walter and Edith Anderson; her oldest son, Carl Kenneth; a granddaughter, Judy Scarlett; son-in-law, Mike Haun; all her siblings; and her precious, beloved husband of almost 80 years, Carl. What a celebration is happening in heaven now! Flora retired in 1982 from Miller’s Department Store after 24 years of service. While working in the children’s department and later the men’s department, she helped many customers find just what they were looking for—always helping. But, her greatest love and area of service was her family, bringing up five children. Upon her retirement, Flora developed a hobby for quilting, giving many of those to her family. Flora loved sending cards, writing letters to her friends, and sharing her gift of hospitality with everyone who entered her home. Just last month she was able to greet many of her friends at her 100th birthday celebration which she enjoyed immensely. Flora was a longtime member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church where in most recent years she held the honor of being the oldest member. Flora will be deeply missed by her living children, daughters Hazel Woodard (Don), Margaret Owens (Bill), Linda Haun, and son Ray Millsaps (Karen); her grandchildren Robin Cayce, Emily Thomas (Wade), Jim Scarlett (Carla), Carolyn Mitchell, Lisa Cross (Tim), Bryan Owens (Dari), Scott Owens, Sherry Parton (Shawn), Stacy Davis (Chad), Suzanne Swaggerty (Brian), Jason Millsaps (Andrea), and Julie Smith (Stephen). With these she also leaves 16 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Sunday, January 3, 2021 from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM with a Celebration of Life service immediately following at 1:30 PM. Pastor Kirby Ownby and Pastor Jason Millsaps will preside. The service will be livestreamed on Berry Funeral Home Facebook page. Interment will be following the service at Big Toqua Cemetery; Hwy 360, Vonore, Tennessee 37885. In lieu of flowers, please make any memorials to Mt. Olive Baptist Church; 2500 Maryville Pike; Knoxville, Tennessee 37920. Condolences may be offered and memories of Flora shared at www.berryfuneralhome.com
