Estelle Ambrose Duncan, age 89, of Knoxville, passed away on the evening of February 22nd, 2015, surrounded by a small sampling of those who loved her. Estelle was born on September 12th, 1925, in Portsmouth, VA to Issac A. and Lella B. Ambrose. She was an unconditionally loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a long time member of Erin Presbyterian Church. Estelle was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 69 years, Phillip L. Duncan. She is survived by daughter, Marie Duncan; daughter and son-in-law, Millie and John Olson; son, Phil Duncan Jr.; five grandchildren and spouses, Tom and Renee Davis; Chris and Kim Copelan; Meg Olson; Alex Olson; and Rick Olson; four great-grandchildren, Amani Al-Nossiff; Christine Copelan; Liesel Davis; and Conor Davis and many nieces and nephews. Estelle had a deep love for her family and shared her passion for life with everyone she met, and this passion and love led her on many creative ventures. She crafted clothes for her children and grandchildren, and took classes in ceramics and stained glass, eventually becoming so accomplished in both that she began teaching. But Estelle taught much more than art, her family and friends are a testament to that. She left a legacy of a love for others and a passion for life.
