Elzie Lee (Skip) Foster, Jr, youngest son of Elzie and Letha Thomas Foster, passed away at home after a brief illness, aged 84, Knoxville, Tennessee on April 13, 2022. He is survived by his wife Jean, daughter Amy, stepdaughters Rhonda and Sandra, stepson Ronnie, sons Matthew and Patrick, sisters Dorene Slaven of Cincinnati, OH and Ruth Malloy of West Milton, OH and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He retired from the FAA after 25 years as an air traffic controller, mostly at the Memphis ARTCC. He then taught air traffic control techniques to students all over the world, in or from more than a dozen countries, such as Morocco, Tunisia, and Bosnia, for another decade. After his active duty in the Navy 1955-1959, mostly on the USS Dixie (AD-14), he joined the Naval Reserve, serving with distinction for 30 years, retiring as a Master Chief Petty Officer.
