Thompson, Earl Murphy Sr., age 89 of South Knoxville, formerly of Cleveland, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Oct 29, 2013. He was active in all sports at the Tennessee School for the Deaf where he graduated in 1942. He worked in the printing Industry in Knoxville for the Press Scimiter as well as printing in many other states. Around 1980 he transitioned into main stream education programs for the deaf in Dallas Texas and taught sign language in several colleges including the University of Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his sister Mattie Sue Tillman.
He is survived by his wife Sylvia Rene' Thompson, his children Patricia Jean Easley, Earl Murphy Thompson, Jr., and Terrence Sherlin Thompson along with five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Earl was a special man and leaves behind a host of family and friends who loved him.
