Dr. Earl R. Holloway, age 88, of Knoxville, formerly of Memphis, passed away Monday, October 24, 2011. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Powell. He was the choir director and voice instructor at Crown College for 17 years. Formerly, Earl had served at First Baptist Church and Briarcrest Baptist Church in Memphis, TN. Earl earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from George Peabody College in Nashville, TN, while his post-graduate studies took place at Julliard School of Music in New York, NY. Also, Earl served as an officer of the United States Navy in WWII.
Survivors include wife of 64 years, Jennie Holloway; daughters, Kim Tubb and husband Gary, Sarah Holloway, Beth McDaniel and husband Tommy; son, Paul Holloway; grandchildren, Robert Tubb and wife Mariah, John Tubb, Jim Ogle and wife Tiffany, Nathaniel Gass, Andrew Holloway, Mary Gass, Jennie McKay and husband Will, Jason McCalman and wife Michelle; great grandchildren, Alan Tubb, Caleb Tubb, Macie Ogle, Bryce McCalman, Addison McCalman, and William McKay.
The family will receive friends from 4 – 7 pm Wednesday at Temple Baptist Church in Powell and the funeral service to follow at 7 pm with Pastor Clarence Sexton officiating. Special music will be provided by the Crown College Choir. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Crown College Music Department, 1700 W. Beaver Creek Dr., Powell, TN 37849. Family and friends will meet at 12:30 pm Thursday for a 1 pm interment at Lynnhurst Cemetery. Arrangements by Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 2300 W. Adair Drive.
