Hammock, Earl Wesley, 1st Sergeant, U.S. Army Retiree, age 77, went to be with the Lord on May 30, 2011 at 1:39 a.m., at his residence in Knoxville, TN, with his family by his side. Earl was a member of Seven Islands Baptist Church. He spent 23 years in the Army before retiring and going to work in Security at Vinson Guard Service. Earl is preceded in death by his father, Otis and mother, Elsie; a brother, J.C. Hammock. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Doris; one daughter, Denise Carmichael and husband, Blane; two sons, Rick of Arizona and Mike of Knoxville; two granddaughters, Jennifer (J-fer) and Stephanie (Stephie); 3 grandsons, Cody of Texas, Wesley (Lil Wes)of Knoxville and Dakota of Morristown; 3 great grandchildren, Leslie (Nana) Hammock, Christina O’Mary (Tina) and Timothy Taylor (Boogie). He is also survived by sister Wilma Watkins and husband Robert, Juanita Hammock, Opal Bryan mother-in-law, and sister-in-law Joy Lewis and husband George of Kingsport, Jeanenne Bryan of Damascus, Virginia and a brother-in-law Lewis Bryan and wife Ann of Ocala, Florida and a number of nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank UT Home Health and UT Hospice and Seymour Medical Center for all their help and support during Earls illness, also, a very special person Tonya Woodward. The family will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway from 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday, June 1, 2011.
