Dottie Dixon, age 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 30, 2022 with her daughters by her side. Dottie was born in Westpoint, Tennessee on November 1, 1935. She was a graduate of Loretto High School. In 1956, she graduated from David Lipscomb University with a teaching degree. She taught for more than 30 years, with most of her career spent teaching 2nd grade at Blue Grass Elementary in the Knox County school system. She was a member of Lenoir City Church of Christ.
Dottie’s greatest joy was her family and watching her grandchildren grow up. She will always be remembered for her laughter, her caring nature, and the love she had for her family and friends. She thanked God daily for the blessings in her life.
Family members who have passed away before her include her parents, Leonard and Ona McGee; her husband of 43 years, Charles Edwin Dixon; brother and sister-in-law Bobby Rex and Rhea McGee; sister and brother-in-law Teddy Ruth and Carl Mabry; and brother Harvey Mac McGee.
She is survived by her daughters and son-in-laws, Stephanie and Tony Wright and Janice and Ricky Ritchie; her grandchildren Jacob Wright, Joseph and Holli Wright, Ben and Hannah Ritchie, Lydia and Seth Harris, and Robby Ritchie; her great-grandson Nathaniel Dixon Ritchie; and several nieces and nephews.
Dottie’s pallbearers are Tony Wright, Ricky Ritchie, Jacob and Joseph Wright, Ben and Robby Ritchie, and Seth Harris.
The family will receive friends Thursday, October 6, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm at Berry Highland Memorial located at 5315 Kingston Pike in Knoxville, Tennessee. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 pm at the adjoining Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery.
