Dorris Ann McPherson

McPherson, Dorris Ann Ault, went to be with the Lord August 12, 2015. She was in the last graduating class of Knox High, worked at White Stores and Sears before she became a full-time mother for several years until all of her five children were in school. She worked thirty years in the Knox County schools first as the last school secretary at Heiskell Elementary and then as the first secretary of Copper Ridge Elementary. She grew up in Macedonia Methodist Church in Knoxville with many of her Ault relatives. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Halls where she was very active in the choir and in Prisca’s Women’s group. She was a great cook and will be remembered by many for her cookies. She is preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Beatrice Ault; her husband of fifty years, Joseph McPherson; brothers, Jim Ault and Carroll Ault. She leaves behind a large and loving family including her children, Glenn McPherson, Charles McPherson (Pam), Rebecca Humphreys (William), Charlotte Wilson (Robert) and Marilyn Thurston (Paul-deceased); grandchildren, Heather Humphreys, Charles McPherson, Jr., Andrew McPherson, Andrea Wilson, Michael Wilson, Richard Thurston and Eva Thurston; she also leaves many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank special friends, Kate Ambrose and Betty Hickman and we also thank the staff of Baptist Health Care in Lenoir City for making her last months so enjoyable. The family will receive friends from 3pm – 5 pm Sunday, August 16, 2015 with the funeral service to follow at Christ United Methodist Church, 7535 Maynardville Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37938.
