Donald Carl Burkett, Sr., age 76, of Knoxville, passed away on Saturday, October 18th, 2014. He graduated from Fulton High School in 1957. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in San Bernadino, CA where he met and married Susan Barrera. He worked at the Knoxville Post Office as an Expeditor Clerk until he retired in 2005. Mr. Burkett was formerly a member of Immaculate Conception and later became a member of All Saint’s Catholic Parrish. Mr. Burkett was preceded in death by parents, Bruce and Fannie Whaley Burkett, siblings, Edward and Charles Burkett and Agnes Williams. Mr. Burkett is survived by his wife of 54 years, Susan Barrera Burkett, children, Donald Carl Burkett, Jr., and wife Pamela, Charles “Chuck” Burkett, Debra “D.D.” Galbraith, and Chris Burkett, grandchildren, Donnie Burkett, Meagan Poore, Brandon Burkett, Jordan and Jenna Galbraith, Christopher Wilson, Joshua Stone, and Dakota Burkett, great-grandchildren, Tyson, Cailyn, and Charlee. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 23rd, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Berry Highland West Funeral Home, with Rosary Service to begin at 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, October 24th, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Parish, with graveside service to follow at 12:00 p.m. in Berry Highland West Cemetery.
