Watson, Dr. David T., age 76, formerly of South Knoxville, passed away Monday, April 11, 2011 at Tellico Village. Dr. Watson was an elder at Graystone Presbyterian Church. He went to Wofford College and played football. He served in the US Navy as a Naval Aviator. After serving his country in the Navy, he went to Medical School at the University of Tennessee in Memphis. Dr. Watson practiced medicine for over forty years in South Knoxville and served as Knoxville City Medical Director for a period of time. He also served as Knox County Coroner for a period of time. He served as team doctor for both Young High School and South-Young High School. He was preceded in death by his wife of over fifty years, Carolyn Johnson Watson; his son, Jon Watson; and his parents, Theodore and Helen Watson. Dr. Watson is survived by his son, Tim Watson and wife Linda; daughter, Julie Anderson and husband Scott; grandchildren: Jessica, Carolyn, and Elizabeth Watson; Eric, Jordan, and Audrey Anderson; sister, Sue Hachton and husband George of California; brother, Bob Watson and wife, Jan; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Frances and Bob Cummings; nieces Margo, Sarah, and Ann Watson; Kathy Mynatt, Carol Giles; nephews: Rusty and Craig Cummings; and Steve Walker. Family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:30 PM Friday at Graystone Presbyterian Church with the funeral service to follow at 7:30 PM, Rev. Mark Knisley and Rev. Craig Cummings officiating.
