David Stitt, age 88, of Corryton, TN passed away on Tuesday, February 6th at University of TN Hospital. David was born and raised in LaGrange, Georgia. He spent many years in Orlando, Florida. After retiring, they returned to the LaGrange area. A couple years ago, moved to Corryton, TN and enjoyed the Tennessee mountains! David began working at an early age and worked hard to provide for his family for his whole life. He was a Master Plumber and retired from Orlando Regional Medical Center in 2005. Then spent his retirement enjoying life with his sweetheart, spending time with his family, pets Dixie and Monroe, and his 8N tractor.
David was an active member at Faith Baptist Church in Lagrange, GA before moving to TN. Due to health reasons, he could only enjoy Corryton Church online. He enjoyed Southern Gospel and Bluegrass music. David was an avid woodworker.
Preceded in death by grandmother, Lilly Cook (Mama Lilly raised him); mother, Lorene Brandenburg; father, Samuel Stitt; brothers, Joe Stitt, Ray Brandenburg and Junior Brandenburg; sisters, Jerry Black, Angie Shepherd and Joanne Strickland. Survived by his wife of almost 71 years (sweethearts since 6th grade), Thelma Jean Stitt; brothers, Johnny and Phillip Brandenburg; sons, Ricky (Von), Michael (Meg) and Kipper (Cindy) Stitt; grandchildren, David Stitt, Kimberly (Shawn) Beaver, Brandon (Megan) Stitt, Amanda (Jonathon) Moore, Caden Stitt and Duncan Stitt; great grandchildren, Chandler, Samuel, Bailey, and Noah Beaver and Avery, River, Sierra, Leah, and coming soon Naomi Jean Stitt.
The family will receive friends Saturday, February 17th from 1-2pm with funeral to follow at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home with Pastor Shawn Beaver of Boulevard Chapel in Kannapolis, NC officiating. Graveside service immediately following at Lynnhurst Cemetery.
