Roe was a lifelong South Knoxvillian. At age16, he joined his family owned business: Woodlawn Cemetery, where he served in various leadership roles for over 40 years. His was the longest management tenure in the company’s history, during which time he was instrumental in securing Woodlawn’s high standard of empathetic care for bereaved families. Roe was a graduate of the last class of Young High School in 1976 and was a member and Elder of New Prospect Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Appalachian Mountain Bike Club. He never met a stranger. Preceded in death by father, Elbert Daniel Lyle, Jr.; cousin, Roger Lyle; uncle, Paul Adams. He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Ford Lyle; sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Dale Aderholt; aunt, Ruth Adams; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. He is survived by his loving partner and friend of 17 years, Karen Fletcher. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm, Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at New Prospect Presbyterian Church, 4920 Prospect Road, Knoxville, TN 37920. Final reflection to be shared after the visitation.
