This is the story of Clyde Neil Kendrick. Neil was a wonderful man of strong faith in our Lord that loved and was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. Neil was known by several names; Aron, Ruke, Okie, Honey, Dad, Papa, Uncle… but whatever you called him he was an amazing son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Neil’s story starts on May 25, 1943, the second oldest child to Hershel and Hazel Kendrick. He was born in Chester, Pennsylvania. When Neil was still just a baby, Hershel and Hazel moved their small family back to Stanford, KY, where he would spend his childhood, attending Stanford High School making many lifelong friends. He was a bit of a “big man on campus” being captain of the football team, voted most popular and President of his senior class. After high school he proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. It was in the neighboring town of Crab Orchard where he would meet the love of his life, Janet Collier Wyler. After three marriage proposals she finally said yes, and they were married in the Crab Orchard Baptist Church on July 10, 1965. Neil and Janet began their lives together in Columbus, Ohio where their son, David Neil, was born. Before long, just as Neil’s parents before him, they returned to Kentucky. Just a blink of the eye later, their daughter, Christa Michalle was born. After attending the University of Kentucky, Neil began working for Southern Railroad as conductor then engineer. In 1977, he and Janet had the opportunity to become franchised Tupperware Distributors and moved their family to Moline, Illinois. They were widely successful there and in 1980 were rewarded with the chance to move their distributorship closer to home in Knoxville, TN. Foundation Party Sales and their sales team were their passion. Neil is remember as an influential mentor, teaching by example, strong business practices and the importance of family and faith. Neil loved fishing, golfing, spending any moment he could outdoors and rooting for the VOLS. Most of all he loved his family and friends. Neil was utterly devoted to Janet, and their marriage of 56 years was the definition of true love and partnership. His children and grandchildren were incredibly blessed with his unconditional love and support. Neil was a faithful, smart, beautiful, warm hearted, extremely neat and organized, funny, mischievous, humble,
honorable, loyal, and incredibly kind and generous man. He is deeply missed. Loved ones that cleared the path for Neil are his parents, Hershel and Hazel Kendrick; son, David Neil Kendrick; brothers, Lawerence and Gary Kendrick; and his niece, Cynthia Finchum Cox. Loved ones that will miss him until they meet again are his wife, Janet Wyler Kendrick; his daughter and son in-law, Christa Kendrick Tarver and James Kennedy Tarver, MD; his grandsons, Lowell Neil Tarver, Hayden Chris Tarver, PharmD and David Liam Tarver; his sister, Wanda Kendrick Britton; his nephews, Larry (and Jamie) Kendrick, Pete (and Susie) Kendrick, Greg (and Sam) Finchum, Mark (and Kathy) Kendrick; and 13
adoring great nieces and nephews.
