Our thoughts and prayers are with the family in this trying time. Although we did know Cindy personally, we understand that she was a tireless Christian Soldier enriching many lives.

Mrs. Ammons was an amazing lady to know and work with. I met her while student teaching and working as a teaching assistant at Ritta Elementary several years ago. She was one of the sweetest teachers who you know cared so deeply for her kids. Her students and her peers have been greatly blessed knowing her. Cindy has touched so many lives over the years. She will be greatly missed. 

Mrs. Ammons was by far my favorite teacher, and one of my favorite people in this world. She was one of the best people to talk to. I don’t remember much about school, but I remember so much about 5th grade, the year she was my teacher. She truly knew how to love, and I know without a doubt where she is today. I can not wait to see her again. And tell her how much she has impacted my life by just being the Godly person she was. I have a sweet memory of her buying me cookie dough after an assignment that asked what we would like to find at the end of a rainbow (cookie dough). She loved getting to know her students and not just teaching them well, but loving them well. She has and forever will have left a mark on my life. I love you Mrs. Ammons and can’t wait to see you and your sweet smile again. ❤️

In the short time I got to spend with Cindy in Sunday school, I couldn’t have sat near a kinder person. I’ve shared with everyone that Cindy was that rare person who when she said, “It’s so good to see you” or “I’m so glad you’re here”...she meant it. Her smile proved it. I’ll miss that. Martin, keeping you in my prayers.

I will miss Cindy so much. I will miss talking to her on the phone and after Sunday school. Her smile and laughter were contagious and she was such a joy to be around. My favorite memory of all time is finding out that she and Martin were a rapping duo. Hearing him beatbox and Cindy rap was the absolute best thing I had ever seen and heard. I will never forget it. Her nursing home rap! I love and miss her so much. We got each other’s sense of humor and I could always be myself with her.  Martin, Harold and the rest of the family we love you and will continue to pray for you. 

Cindy was one of my first true "teacher friends". We shared so many laughs in the daily escapades of teaching. I loved Cindy's smile and her positive attitude about everything. I was also blessed to get to know her family; especially the humor of her Mom. Miss Sara was a precious soul, just like Cindy. And I was honored to be present at her beautiful fairy tale wedding to Martin. Cindy was a devout follower of Jesus and I know she is in Heaven celebrating with her Mom. So sorry to hear of Cindy’s passing. I have so many memories of her when I would spend time with Jill when we were growing up. She was a sweet and precious person. I know she will be missed. Prayers and love to the family.

My heart hurts for the passing of my dear sweet friend Cindy. I loved her alot. She was a kind hearted, most caring, inspirational, lovimg, good godly spirited, and hugable person. I always enjoyed being around her and telling her how I am doing. She was always supportive. I will miss her alot.

I am so saddened to hear of the loss of Mrs. Ammons. I have nothing but the fondest memories of her being my 5th grade teacher at Ritta Elementary 20 years ago and still think of her often. She was hands down my favorite teacher throughout my entire schooling and made such a huge impact on who I am today. She followed me throughout my high school athletics and would come to watch me play. She even came to my wedding. Her infectious personality is something I will never forget and something I will always cherish. I, along with all her students, adored her. My prayers are with Martin and the rest of her family. 

A funny tid bit (that I find myself singing more than you’d think) is that I can recite her “rap” she would always sing to us in class- “Hello,  my name is Cindy Hobby & if you like me you’ll meet me in the lobby! Just bring me some roses and a Cadillac and I’ll open up the trunk and throw you in the back! Hey maybe we will go out for a spin, maybe we’ll see some of our kin!” *insert beat box noises*. She was such a light and beyond hysterical. I loved laughing with her. 

I pray my future children have an educator that makes such an impact on them as Mrs. Ammons made on me. 

Michael and I were stunned and saddened to hear of the news of Cindy's death. Your family has been extraordinarily gracious and kind to us for 50 years. I was delighted when Cindy and Jill chose Carson-Newman to obtain their teaching credentials. We loved them both. Cindy was so bright, so kind, and so gracious...a true light to so many. We grieve and pray with you for comfort and peace.

Gail and I are so sad to hear of sweet Cindys passing. Gail said to tell all of the family her prayers are with all of you. She loves all of you. She wants to come to the funeral but I am not sure we will make it 


So sorry for our loss of this amazing woman, I will miss her so much. 
When I worked at Hobby Industries, Cindy would drop by a few times a week, she would always come by my sewing machine and chat with me a while before going in the office to see her parents, her smile would brighten my day. 

Oh Cindy, my sweet girl.  I loved you from the moment we first met.
Cindy was filled with the spirit of Jesus and she shared that joy with everyone she met.  Her laughter and smile was contagious.  I thank you God for letting me find friendship with Cindy.  We commiserat ed with each other over our mother's deaths, and shared funny stories about our sweet mothers.  She was as close to her mom as I was with my mom.  We could relate so well because we felt the same about our families.  Thank you sweet Cindy for being my friend.  You will always be in my heart.  I am so happy you are in God's glorious presence.  I love you sweet girl.

I have been blessed to know Cindy since our days at Doyle High School, but is the past several years that we have became like family in our Sunday School class at Mount Olive taught by her husband Martin. She was so incredibly caring about everyone and her laugh was contagious. I will miss her dearly and thank the Lord for the years in our class both the good times and the tough times we have been through together as a Sunday school class. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with her wonderful family. 

I knew Cindy and Jill from  growing up in South Knoxville and from Mt. Olive. She was the sweetest most generous  person. I remember laughing with her so many times.  I don’t think I ever heard her offer an unkind word. I am so sad to read of her passing.  I will be praying for all of your peace and comfort during this very difficult time.

The first thing you noticed when you met Cindy was her smile followed by her laugh. It was in her DNA. Her grandmother Blanche had it and passed it on to her daughter Sara.  Who passed it to Cindy   But it was more than this.  It was the Spirit of the Lord inside her.  She ministered in her own way. It wasn’t about herself but reaching out and touching lives around her. Martin, Jill , Harold, and extended family can testify to the strength, grace and love that lives on.  Cindy truly made a difference

I did not have the pleasure of knowing Cindy, but she had a reputation as an excellent and much beloved student at Carson-Newman and then after that as a teacher at Ritta Elementary.  Her sister, Jill, is an educator for whom we have a great deal of admiration and respect. Many prayers for this lovely family from all of us in the Carson-Newman Education Department.

Ms. Ammons was one of my all time favorite teachers. I loved everything about her- her infectious smile, her laugh, the way she loved reading aloud to us, even the way she made learning fun!
I later saw her many times at teacher trainings and inservices and she always recognized me right away...her love for life, learning, and teaching I know will live on for many many years to come. Thank you Cindy Hobby Ammons for helping me become the teacher I am today. ❤

There are people who are placed in this world to be the hands and feet of Jesus, sweet Cindy was exactly one of those people. Her love for teaching will live forever in the many students in which she touched.  The Ritta community is deeply saddened by the loss of this wonderful lady. How blessed we were to be loved by her. My sincere prayers for peace and comfort to your beautiful family in the days and weeks  ahead.  She has, without a doubt  already heard,  well done my good and faithful servant. I’m so very sorry to hear of the loss of Cindy.  While we rarely saw each other after high school I have always been greeted with the warmth and sunshine that she will forever exude when I did get the joy of seeing her at school functions after moving back to Knoxville.  I know that whatever illness she experienced on this earth has been put aside as she is one with the sunshine of heaven.  Blessings and peace to all of the many I know she has touched with her kindness, heartfelt love and caring.  She will forever be remembered. 

Cindy and I have been friends since we met in 3rd grade Mrs. Sullivan's class at Mt. Olive Elementary and in Sunday School at Mt. Olive Baptist church.   I just learned of her death and I'm well for the lack of a bettering 
term heavy hearted.  She was one of the best people I've ever had the honor of knowing. 

Cindy was always the sweetest, kindest, most beautiful young lady at Doyle High School. 
Always happy and full of the Joy of the Lord.
It was an honor and a privilege to know her during that time.

I was a traveling teacher when Cindy taught at Ritta. I remember her as a kind, friendly educator that loved her children. I am so sorry for your loss.

I always remember riding on the bus together with her during 1984-86. She was one of the sweetest people I knew. It was sad to see her pass away. Condolences to her family, especially her sister Jill, on the passing.

Cindy was one of the nicest and kindest people that I ever met. She was also very intelligent and a very positive person. While I join her family in morning her leaving us, it is with great joy that I know we will see her again in Jesus’ kingdom. 

My prayers are with the family and friends of Cindy.  Cindy was always a very sweet person, and will be missed by many.

So very sorry to hear about the passing of Cindy! I haven't kept up through the years but I just remember her being so sweet to everyone!  She was in the Chorus with me as long as I can remember.  I remember her being so nice to absolutely everyone! I don't remember her ever saying even a harsh word to anyone even as a youth! May the Lord be with the family and give them strength during this difficult time.
