Cindy Hobby Ammons, 51, went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on December 18, 2020. Cindy was a lifelong member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in South Knoxville, where she helped lead a couples' Sunday School class. Cindy graduated from Doyle High School, received a Bachelor of Science from Carson Newman College and earned a Master's Degree from the University of Tennessee College of Education, all with honors. She taught both the 4th and 5th grades at Ritta Elementary School for 21 years. She loved her students and worked tirelessly to instill in them a love of reading and a work ethic, which helped them to improve academically and be better prepared for real life. A sweet and compassionate person, Cindy was an encourager who never met a stranger. After retiring from teaching due to health issues, she continued as the bookkeeper for her parents' small business, Hobby Industries. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sara Stroud Hobby. Cindy is survived by her husband of 24 years, Martin Ammons; her father, Harold Hobby; her sister and brother-in-law, Dr. Jill Hobby and Dr. Philip Meyette; her special "brother," Khen Huynh and her many, many friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 2500 Maryville Pike. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 7:00 PM with Dr. Doug White and Reverend Kirby Ownby officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Ammons' Sunday School class. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, masks and social distancing will be required at all times. The Celebration of Life Service will be streamed live on Berry Funeral Home's Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/105973762827623
